Cultural Capital at Scunthorpe Church Of England Primary
Here at Scunthorpe Church of England Primary School, we are passionate and committed to providing the children in our caring church school family with outstanding learning opportunities.
Our aim is to enrich every child’s school experience and create an environment where they are encouraged to succeed, have the opportunity to shine and reach their potential.
Cultural capital is about preparing children with the knowledge and skills for what comes next. We realise the exploration of new skills and experiences helps to nurture resilience, curiosity and creativity and provide challenge and develop ambition. Ultimately, this leads to the growth of new forms of cultural capital that makes a difference in individual mindsets and shapes the future.
The intent of our enriched experiences and additional curriculum initiatives is to help our children experience the awe and wonder of the community in which they live and world around us.
Each year group has implemented a ‘Cultural Capital Journey’ for the children to follow and complete over the year (published below). Each activity relates to the five attributes which contribute to the holistic development of all children; our six school values are interwoven throughout the journey thus providing a bespoke journey for the children in each year to follow.
We look forward to the children sharing their special journey with us over the next twelve months
